Welcome to Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research (SSCASR) Central Library, which was established in the year 2004 under the guidance of His Holiness Poojya Gurudev Sri Sri Ravishankar ji.
Salient Features
The Central Library housed on the third floor of the college building with an area of 314 sq. mtrs. The Central Library caters to the information needs of the UG students, PG Scholars, interns teaching and non-teaching staff of Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research (SSCASR), Kanakapura Road, Bangalore.
Central Library plays a vital role in the academic activities of the institution. The Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research has a good Library having publications on various subjects of Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Allopathy, Philosophy, Sanskrit, Basic Science, etc. Reading room facilities are provided where current Journals, Magazines, Bulletins, leading national and local dailies are made available.
Objectives
The main objective of the Central Library is to support the academic activities of the Institute. It involves content development, acquisition, technical services providing institutional repositories, etc. The library is doing the best effort for providing study material either book, journals, e-journals, e-books, general study materials to its member.
The main motto is to provide polite, friendly and efficient services without any discrimination among the users.
Timings and Holidays
- Monday to Saturday – 8.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. on working days
- Institute Holidays / Sundays -09.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.
- Digital Library – 9.00 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on working days
Library Rules and Regulations
- The Central Library will be open from 8.30 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. on working days and from 09.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Institute Holidays / Sundays.
- The Library Books can be issued from 9.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. on working days. Books cannot be issued on Sundays and Public Holidays.
- No student will be allowed to avail library facility without a valid ID card and Library Card. The borrower cards are not transferable.
- User should compulsorily enter their name, class, in-time while entering and out-time and signature while going out in the Gate Register
- While entering the library, bags, Apron, and any belongings will not be allowed inside the library instead they should be kept at the entrance in the property counter.
- For availing library facility, students should be in proper uniform.
- Users should maintain peace in the library and should not disturb other readers in the library otherwise library facility will be withdrawn.
- Unauthorized removal of books or damaging the property of the library or misbehavior with library staff shall be considered as an act of indiscipline, which will call for strict action and or fine.
- The book shall be issued only upon producing borrower’s card and the student can have one borrower’s card and 3 books shall be issued against one borrower card.
- The students can obtain a maximum of three (3) books at a time for a period of ten (10) days and it has to be returned/renewed on the due date. If the due date falls on Sunday / Holidays then the book will be returned on the next working day.
- Books borrowing limit: Faculty – 3, Student – 3.
- Books must be returned on or before the due date otherwise the fine of Rs. 2/- will be charged per day/book from the 11th day till the date of return.
- The library can recall any issued book even before the due date.
- The fine amount collection slip will be collected from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. on working days. No-slip will be collected on holidays.
- At the time of deposition of the late fine the user must collect the fine slip and pay to the Accounts Dept. and receive the receipt for the payment and the same receipt is submitted to the Library.
- Absence/illness are not acceptable excuses for exemption from paying overdue charges.
- The students can take reference books and Periodicals to refer to in the library and the students have to return the books immediately (same day). The students are not permitted to take the books outside (classroom, hostel) Library.
- Own books or issued books are not allowed inside the library during college hours. After 4.30 if your own books are brought, they are liable to checking at entry and exit.
- Post Graduate students should submit their Soft Copy of Dissertation in the form of CD compulsorily before collecting from the Library “NO DUE CERTIFICATE”.
- After 4.30 p.m. boys and girls shall study separately and group discussions are not permitted.
- In spite of repeated reminders, if the book is not returned, the borrowing facility may be withdrawn for a period decided by the authority.
- The students have to give maximum care while handling the books. In case if any, damage, mishandling of books is noticed then appropriate action shall be imposed against the concerned students. The cost of that book will be penalized to the students. In case of loss of books, the concerned students will be either penalized by two times more than the cost of the books or have to replace the books with the latest edition.
- Users are not permitted to underline, write in, folding/tearing of pages, or defaced books in any way whatsoever.
- Library follows a closed access system. A copy of each title is available in the reference section.
- The authority will not be responsible for any loss.
- Eatables (liquid, semi-solid, solid forms) are not allowed inside the Library.
- Students should take care of the cleanliness of the library.
- Users will only read the newspapers in the newspaper reading stand.
- Students should not disturb the arrangements of the library furniture.
- Outsiders are not allowed in the library without the permission of the authority concerned.
- The use of mobile phones inside the library premises is strictly prohibited during college hours. After 4.30 p.m., mobile may be used for academic purpose only in silent mode. If mobile is used for non-academic purposes mobile will be seized and a fine will be levied.
- The double cost of the book will have to pay if the issued book has lost.
- A member who has lost borrower’s Card shall make a written report to the librarian, then original or duplicate library Borrower’s Card will be issued on payment of Rs. 50/-.
- All final year students should return their Library Borrower’s Card and library book based on the library circular and obtain “NO DUE CERTIFICATE” from the library for getting a Hall ticket.
- Similarly, the staff members who intend to leave the college should settle all the dues and obtain “NO DUE CERTIFICATE” from the library preferably a week before.
- The students have to refer the Library Notice Board for the Instructions / Notification etc.
- The students have to give maximum co-operation to the library staff members.
- The Chief Librarian has the power to cancel the library card refuse library admission to anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the Library or indulges in any other type of misconduct.
- It is mandatory for all members who are using facilities to follow the library rules and regulations.
- For any dispute or problem, Chief Librarian may be contacted.
- All the members of the Library team are available for any assistance you may need in using the library resources, facilities, and services. The library will welcome any suggestion for better use of library facilities
Library Resources
The Central Library has excellent print collections. The library has more than 11571 volumes of Ayurveda and Modern books. The library subscribes to more than 43 Ayurveda journals and magazines. Besides that, Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science & Research is a member of the HELINET Consortium at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science (RGUHS), Karnataka.
The RGUHS has subscribed and provides the e-resources under HELINET Consortium and also provides the Institutional IP authentication access of 1257 Medical & Health E-journals from ProQuest Database and 2123 Professional & Reference titles of E-books and 606 number of Videos from Jaypee Digital. The Library also holds a vast collection of dissertations and research works. Besides print and electronic collection library has a non-print collection in the forms of CDs, DVDs, audio, and video cassettes.

Membership
The UG students, PG Scholars, Interns, teaching and non-teaching faculty of the Sri Sri College of Ayurvedic Science and Research are the regular users of the library and are entitled to all the services offered by the library.
All the beneficiaries joining the Institute are required to apply for Library membership by submitting the identity card at the circulation counter along with two passport size photos. The membership card is issued to all registered staff and students who apply for library membership.
Library Committee and Staff
The Central Library has a team of qualified professionals staff trained in computer and information technology who endeavor to provide good service to user communities.
The Institute has constituted an advisory body which guides the functioning of the Central Library.
Reprographic Services
Printing from Digital Library Documents, photocopying, and scanning facility is available in the Digital Library. Photocopy from any book is not allowed for copyright acts.
